Mission of SRDCS

​The mission of Drum Rhythms (DR) is the provide interactive and fun Drum Circles for all ages, from youth to seniors. Drum circles are offered in schools, churches, retirement communities, and senior centers to promote mental, physical, and emotional wellness through drumming, rhythm, and singing experiences.


Benefits of Drumming

Current research now shows the therapeutic and quality of Life benefits of drumming. Drumming creates a sense of community; Improves motor control, eye-hand coordination, and posture; Reduces tension, anxiety, depression, and stress; Induces deep relaxation; Promotes emotional regulation; Helps to boost the immune system and lowers blood pressure; Helps decreases chronic pain and negative feelings; Increases energy; Brings a feeling of joy and happiness, and creates a sense of community and connected-ness.


About the Founder of DR, Ouida Joi 

Ouida Joi has been facilitating drum circles for over 18 years. She is the Founder of Drum Rhythms Drum Circles and the Center for Mindfulness &  Healing Arts, LLC in Smyrna, DE. She completed the Upbeat Drum Circles Facilitation Training with Christine Stevens and has studied with Master Drummers Kalani and Afia Walking Tree, and Isa Gucciardi, PhD. She is a member of the Drum Circle Facilitators Guild. Ouida Joi is passionate about utilizing drum circles for wellness and healing.  

Ouida Joi is available to come to your facility to facilitate a 30-minute or 45-minute drum circle. All drums, rattles, shakers, and bells provided.
